Published July 21, 2010

DAVIS, CA (BRAIN)—The U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame will be the beneficiary of a live auction fundraiser at Lifeboat Event’s DealerCamp later this month.

DealerCamp—which takes place July 29-31 in Park City, Utah—is a new outdoor expo and demo event where top bicycle dealers and manufacturers can network while showcasing and demoing new product, according to a press release.

By partnering with the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame, DealerCamp will contribute to the emerging effort of preserving the rich history of the American bicycle industry.

“The auction will support the Hall of Fame’s efforts to preserve its collection of American cycling history and honor the country’s greatest cycling athletes,” said Richard Bryne, CEO of Speedplay, whose company is spearheading the fundraising initiative.

DealerCamp is seeking donations of bicycle products and paraphernalia to be auctioned at the event’s opening reception and auction on July 29.

“The Hall of Fame has just launched a major effort to preserve and restore thousands of cycling artifacts from its stored collection and move those items into its new, world-class museum facility,” said Joe Herget, executive director for the Hall of Fame. “We’re also creating a comprehensive digital archive so that people from all over the world can enjoy and learn about America’s cycling history.”

After relocating from New Jersey, the nearly 25-year-old U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame’s national headquarters and museum now occupy an 8,000-square-foot building in the heart of downtown Davis, California. The museum’s collection includes a vast array of bicycles, photographs, awards and other artifacts from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Its Hall of Fame wing features more than 120 inductees.

The mission of the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame is to preserve the history of American cycling in order to educate people about the past and encourage them to participate in the future of the sport. Encouraging all levels of cycling, the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame promotes cycling development and fitness.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame on this initiative,” said Lance Camisasca, president of Lifeboat Events and founder of DealerCamp. “We conceived of this auction sitting around the fire at PressCamp in June, and everyone on staff agreed that we, as an industry, need to collectively commit to preserving and sharing our country’s rich cycling history.”
