Pro Cycling Tour Launching Philly Show

Published March 23, 2010

PHILADELPHIA, PA (BRAIN)—Pro Cycling Tour, the producers of the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship—the nation’s largest and longest-running professional cycling race—is bringing a new dynamic to “race weekend” this June 4-6 called the Philadelphia Cycling, Health & Fitness Show.

Feature exhibitors will include Philadelphia’s own international bike manufacturer, Fuji Bikes, along with a line-up of cycling advocacy groups and cycling-related entertainment, such as Wheelmen’s: History of the Bicycle, seminars and BMX Stunt Shows. Consumers can check out the latest in bikes and cycling gear and explore all of the health, wellness and fitness resources the region has to offer.

One of the show’s “don’t miss” events will be the official presentation on Saturday, June 5 of the international and U.S. teams who will compete in the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship on Sunday, June 6. “The team presentation will mirror the grand tradition of events like the Tour de France, providing fans with up-close and personal access to the sport’s most elite athletes from more than 20 nations,” said David Chauner, president of Pro Cycling Tour.

“For years, cycling fans have looked to the ‘Philly Bike Race’ as the kick-off to summer. Parties, festivals and amateur cycling events now draw hundreds of thousands from the region and around the country to this unique celebration of fun, fitness and international goodwill,” Chauner said. “What started as a means to link the majesty of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with the hillside neighborhood of Manayunk is now an event that is a major highlight on the regional sports calendar. The Manayunk Wall has even achieved worldwide notoriety. We’re delighted to be expanding the rich legacy of this race and to be bringing even more to the event’s fans with this new Philadelphia Cycling, Health & Fitness Show.”

The Philadelphia Cycling, Health & Fitness Show will run at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (Hall C):

· Friday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

· Saturday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Team Presentation at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.)

The Show’s finale will be course-side on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on:

· Sunday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
