POZZOLEONE, Italy (BRAIN)—Fizik has rolled out a new 2009 grassroots rider support program: the Fizik Link. The program was created to help up-and-coming North American cyclists achieve a higher competitive level of cycling and to advance the local race scene in their respective communities.
All road, mountain bike, cross, track and triathlete teams and individuals are eligible to apply for the program. The Fizik Link is intended not only for serious grassroots teams and cyclists who are willing to prove themselves and represent the sport of cycling with the greatest of professionalism but to also provide an affiliation—a link— with the world’s premiere high performance saddle brand.
The program must be coordinated through a sponsoring bike shop. Bike shops who support Fizik Link teams will benefit through an increased partnership with Fizik, with their teams and athletes, and through referrals to the shop from the racers who influence other cyclists in their community.
Fizik's U.S. subsidiary, Highway Two, will offer all stock saddles and accessories to teams and athletes who qualify. Additionally, Fizik will continue to offer a Pro Custom program for Elite level teams and individuals who wish to be role models to other cyclists and their community, and who wish to represent the Fizik brand at the highest level as a select member of the Fizik Link. This program allows Elite teams and individuals’ access to custom saddles, just like Pro Tour and World Cup cyclists.
In conjunction with the new Link, Fizik has established an online blog, http://rootswithfizik.blogspot.com/ (click on link)—to act as a meeting place for Lin:k teams, shops and riders. Fizik Link teams and athletes will be profiled weekly and will include race reports, community and Fizik attended events.
To join the Fizik Link, teams and athletes should send information, a competitive resume and the contact name of the supporting bike shop to j.cordoba@fizik.com. A prior agreement between the shop and individual or team will be requested.
