(BRAIN) — Zipp's new HITOP S and HITOP SW carbon wheels are designed for cross-country use with a rim layup designed for compliance and strength.
The company said, "Trail compliance is vital, with modern cross-country races becoming rougher and more challenging. No longer is it good enough for an XC wheelset to be stiff above all else. Instead, a wheelset should feel alive. The 1ZERO HITOP SW carbon rim complies with the terrain thanks to Zipp’s proprietary HITOP Technology for carbon layup. The result is a lightweight XC wheel that carries speed through all sections of the trail, rocks, roots, and ruts with the durability required for a trail bike with up to 130mm of travel."
The HITOP S rim is 21.2mm deep with an inside width of 30mm. The HITOP S wheelset weighs 1325 grams. The hookless rim is designed for tubes or tubeless. The HITOP S wheels weigh 1,495 grams.
The SW wheels have an MSRP of $1,975; the S version has an MSRP of $1,350.
The wheels come with a TyreWiz 2.0 tire-pressure monitoring system. The HITOP SW wheels have the ZM2 SL hub with 66 points of engagement and standard or Torque Cap options on the front hub. The HITOP S wheels have the ZM 900 SL hub with 52 points of engagement. XD and Microspline driver bodies are available.
