Giro releases redesigned flat pedal shoe

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Giro Sport Design's new Latch flat pedal shoes incorporate a patent-pending foam midsole and rubber outer sole technology to enhance stability and grip.

Available in men's and women's models, the Latch has a microfiber upper and hydrophobic inner construction to enhance drying along with minimal seams and stitching for increased durability.

MSRP is $150 and available from Giro retailers and online

The Latch is part of Giro's new line of redesigned flat pedal shoes that feature its newly developed elastic rubber sole compound Tack Rubber and slow-rebound Mute Foam injection molded midsole. The shoe also lowers the rider's foot to the pedal, which Giro says results in greater rider control.

Giro also reduced the toespring in the forefoot, improving the shoe's linear profile to match that of the pedals. A wider toe box also allows more room for the forefoot and toes to spread.

The shoe is also, on average, 100 grams lighter than previous models with the men's size 43 weighing in at 334 grams and women's 39 weighing 300 grams.
