OSAKA, Japan (BRAIN) — For the 2020 model year, Shimano has upgraded its entry-level Tiagra road components with new designs that the company said are more ergonomic and offer better performance. The new line will see upgraded Tiagra-branded components that replace former non-series components; premium features will trickle down to Tiagra from upper end groups.
New Dual Control levers (ST-4720-L/R) replace the previous non-series ST-RS405 units and now borrow features from the upper end groups, with a slim body and increased adjustability.
The Tiagra 10-speed shifting mechanism within the lever body has also been upgraded from the non-series levers to provide quicker rear gear shifts thanks to a redesigned internal shifting unit. Like the new 105 and Ultegra ST levers, the new Tiagra levers are available in a short reach lever option for riders with smaller hands.
The group now includes a lower 48-34Tt front chainring combination alongside the existing 52-36t and 50-34t cranksets.
Finally, the group includes a new 12mm E-THRU hubset for disc brakess. This 10 or 11-speed hubset is available for 28H or 32H rims and comes with a disc brake-specific O.L.D. of 110 or 142mm.
The parts will be available in June, the company said.
