OXNARD, CA (BRAIN) — Without releasing many details, the Italian component company Tiso announced Wednesday that it will soon release a 12-speed wireless electric road drivetrain.
The company said the parts group will include shifters, front and rear derailleurs and a titanium cassette. It did not say what chain would work with the cassette.
Tiso said the group will run on AAA batteries and communicate via "radio and/or Bluetooth." Besides the 12-speed cassette, the group is said to easily convert to work with Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo 10- and 11-speed groups. The company also said the group will cost less than any other electric drivetrain on the market. It also said the cassette weighs 150 grams and that the group is protected by "five international patents and two international trademarks."
Tiso's U.S. distributor is Albabici, based in Oxnard, California. Tiso said that it will start compiling a waiting list for the parts early next year, but did not say when the parts would ship.
