Showers Pass gets 'monumental' exposure

Published March 25, 2014

PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — Pro cycling fans around the world watched the first "Monument" single-day race of the 2014 season on Sunday, the historic Milan-Sanremo classic. This year's edition was 246 kilometers (153 miles) and included a monumental amount of rain throughout.

You might even say it looked like Portland conditions.

Portland-based Showers Pass is probably better known for making commuting and touring rain gear, but the brand got some worldwide exposure when MSR's eventual winner Alexander Kristoff was spotted wearing its Elite Pro Jacket during the race. Showers Pass if the official outerwear supplier to Kristoff's team, the Russian Katusha squad, which trains in the Showers Pass Elite 2.1 jacket and races in the Ultralight and Elite Pro Jacket.

“Even the best riders in the world need protection from the elements,” said Shower's Pass president Kyle Ranson. “Maintaining a steady core temperature in nasty weather can make or break a race.  We are so happy to be supplying Team Katusha with our high performance outerwear.”
