TAIPEI, TAIWAN (BRAIN) — Organizers of next year’s Taipei Cycle Show are calling out now for entries in its annual design and innovation contest—one of the premier events at the international expo.
At the show last March designers and industry suppliers submitted more than 180 entries with 44 winners selected from companies based around the globe. Four of them received Taipei Cycle’s gold award for outstanding innovation and design, said Andrea Wu, a TAITRA spokesperson.
All manufacturers and designers should submit entries by Dec. 20, 2013. The awards will be announced at the March 5-8, 2014, trade show held at the Nangang Exhibition Hall. All Taipei Cycle d&I award winners are included in a special publication distributed to international media and in the hall.
Besides TAITRA, the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association (TBEA) and IF Design Forum GmBH help organize the event, Wu said. The categories include: bicycles, components, parts, accessories, e-bikes and pedelecs.
An independent panel of experts looks for innovation, quality, workmanship, material choice, environmental sustainability, function, utility, safety, ergonomics and universal design. “TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards have won praise for offering a unique competition that inspires both makers and the market,” Wu said.
