OSAKA, Japan (BRAIN) — Shimano has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility in the Philippines to produce bicycle components. The new facility will enhance its production capabilities in that emerging market, the company said in a statement.
The new production facility will be established by Shimano’s Singapore subsidiary and will be located about 52 kilometers north of Manila in Tanauan City, Batangas. It will require an investment of approximately 3.5 billion yen ($35.9 million).
Shimano expects to complete construction of the new production facility in July 2014, and expects it to begin operating by December of next year.
