DUARTE, CA (BRAIN) — Folding bike maker Dahon has entered into a licensing agreement with Ford Motor Co. to produce a complete line of Ford-branded bicycles.
The line of folding and electric bikes for adults and children is expected to launch in 2014, with specific models to be determined in the coming months. All production and distribution will be handled by Dahon, and the bikes will initially be sold through select retail channels. The Ford line will also include a range of accessories.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for us,” said Dahon founder and CEO Dr. David Hon. “By partnering with such an environmentally conscious company as Ford, we are taking the next steps in highlighting the need to reduce carbon emissions and influencing today’s auto-dependent public to think about the importance of changing their transport habits to help sustain a greener future.”
