Empowering Teen Riders with Essential Safety Skills for Today's Roads

Winter Springs, FL - August 15, 2024 - The American Bicycling Education Association (ABEA) is proud to announce the launch of its groundbreaking Teen eBike Training program. This e-learning module, at https://teenebiketraining.com is designed specifically for teenage ebike riders and aims to provide essential safety training to ensure their well-being on the roads. The program will be licensed to school districts, municipalities, ebike companies, and bicycle dealers. It is also available for purchase by parents as a single course or family pack, offering comprehensive education to a crucial demographic.

The Teen eBike Training program addresses the growing need for structured and accessible safety education for teenagers who are increasingly using ebikes as a mode of transportation. These young riders often navigate roads filled with cars and trucks without the benefit of a driver's license, automobile experience, or formal training. As such, the program is designed to equip them with the roadway-environment rules, knowledge, and strategies necessary to avoid collisions and safely share the road with other users.

Course Overview:

The Teen eBike Training course provides a structured learning path that covers fundamental knowledge to be a safe and responsible ebike rider. By imparting skills that make bicycling conflict-free and enjoyable, the course aims to foster a generation of informed and responsible riders who will continue to embrace this active, low-cost, and low-impact form of transportation.

Course modules are designed in a progressive manner, with each lesson building on the previous one. The lessons include videos, animated graphics, text and illustrations to cater to different learning styles. To reinforce learning, each section concludes with a knowledge quiz. Upon successful completion of the course, students will earn a certificate that can be used to license them to ride ebikes to school or to register their ebike with their city.

Keri Caffrey, Curriculum Director of the American Bicycling Education Association, emphasizes the importance of this program: "Our Teen eBike Training course is a vital resource for young riders. It ensures their safety on ebikes and also lays the groundwork for them to become better, more informed motorists in the future. By educating youth today, we are building safer communities for tomorrow."

The launch of this program marks a significant step forward in promoting road safety and responsible teen ebike use. The ABEA is committed to providing high-quality educational resources that empower individuals and communities to embrace bicycling as a safe and sustainable mode of transportation.
