His journey in the bicycle business commenced in 1986 when he started as a technician at a small repair shop, later joining Cyclesmith in 1994 during his university years. After a brief hiatus, Feenstra returned to the industry in 1999 as co-owner of Cyclesmith, eventually assuming full ownership in 2016.

Throughout his career, Feenstra has championed numerous initiatives to enrich his community, including supporting charity rides, hospital foundations, immigration services, and youth advocacy programs. Feenstra's vision for the industry aligns with the NBDA's mission to strengthen specialty bicycle retailers. He aims to elevate bicycle retailing as a respected profession, ensuring that industry professionals earn a sustainable livelihood while pursuing their passion.

The NBDA, founded in 1946, serves as a beacon for specialty bicycle retailers, offering education, research, communication, and advocacy to enhance their businesses. In a significant move to better serve the Canadian cycling community, the NBDA has expanded its member benefits, appointing two Canadian board members and a dedicated Canadian membership staff member. Additionally, the NBDA formed a Canadian Specific Retailers "P2" Group to offer a peer mentoring solution.

The NBDA invites retailers, distributors, and Canadian suppliers to join the association and take advantage of specific Canadian membership benefits. By uniting industry stakeholders, the NBDA continues to lead bicycle retailers to excellence across North America.
