Taking place from 22-25 March, TAIPEI CYCLE brings industry leaders to the international audience, with sustainability in focus

21 March 2023 – Taipei, Taiwan: TAIPEI CYCLE and its online exhibition, 'TAIPEI CYCLE DigitalGo', hold a prominent position in the international bicycle industry and will kick off simultaneously on 22 March. The physical exhibition attracts 850 exhibitors, who are collectively taking a total of 3,050 booths, including international well-known brands such as MERIDA, GIANT, KMC, SRAM, and SHIMANO. In addition 'TAIPEI CYCLE DigitalGo' will attract 206 domestic and foreign exhibitors.

This year's exhibition will feature five major themes: Resilient Supply Chain, Digital Connections, Vibrant Innovations, Dynamic Lifestyle, and Sustainable Moves and the show will include various activities related to sustainable topics, in line with the global goal for net-zero carbon emissions.

Simon Wang, the president and CEO of TAITRA, stated that despite a slight decline in total export volume of complete bicycles in 2022, Taiwan's export value of complete bicycles has increased by 23% compared to 2021. However, due to the increase in unit price, the export value of complete bicycles reached USD 1.617 billion, an increase of 23% compared to 2021. Meanwhile, the export volume of ebikes continues to rise in both quantity and price and it exceeded one million units in 2022. The top ten export markets include the Netherlands, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, and Spain. The demand for ebikes in France, Italy, and the Czech Republic has grown by more than 100%, indicating that electric-assisted bicycles have become the most significant driving force for industry growth in recent years.

TAITRA emphasizes that TAIPEI CYCLE 2023 marks the industry's recovery of participation from international exhibitors. In addition to Taiwan's leading brands and supply chain companies, international exhibitors from 31 countries will participate, with a ratio close to 20%. For 2023 there are also national pavilions, including the European Union Pavilion, the Japan Pavilion, and the Italy Pavilion, showing the latest and greatest from those regions. Furthermore, the momentum towards the electrification of the industry is becoming more apparent, with the "Ebike and Drive Systems Zone" at this year's exhibition growing by more than 40% compared to 2022 - with nearly 300 booths, including Shin Yong Quan, Taiwan's largest rubber conveyor belt manufacturer; Daiyu, fitness equipment giant, and Delta Electronics.

This year's exhibition's New Enterprises account for 15% of the show and it brings some truly exciting companies to the industry, including internationally renowned automobile and motorcycle companies that have joined the micro-mobility development lineup - such as Valeo, a long-standing French automobile parts manufacturer, German brand MAHLE, as well as POLINI and Ducati, the famous Italian motorcycle brands.

Other exciting exhibition activities include the "TAIPEI CYCLE Forum" on the second day of the exhibition, which focuses on the sustainable practices in the bicycle industry. Industry experts and representatives from Europe, America, and Taiwan are invited to exchange ideas on implementing the vision and practices of reducing carbon emissions in the bicycle industry. On the third day of the exhibition, the "TAIPEI CYCLE workshop" invites local bicycle club leaders in Taiwan to share alternative marketing strategies, showcasing the rich local energy and diversity of Taiwan's bicycle industry. The "Live Studio!", which received high praise last year, will continue to invite influencers to interview exhibitors on site via live streaming.

In addition, the "TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards" for innovative designs held in conjunction with the exhibition will be in its 11th edition this year. 46 winning products have been announced, including 7 products awarded the Gold Prize, in which 1 receiving the "New Enterprise Award".
