Lipscomb brings decades of DEI and organizational coaching expertise as USAC undergoes growth with emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion in sport and its organization

Oct. 25, 2021 (COLORADO SPRINGS, CO) USA Cycling announces that David Lipscomb, CEO & Head Coach at CIS Training Systems LLC, will initially serve a one-year term as the organization's DEI and Organizational Development Consultant.

Lipscomb has spent over 25 years at the highest levels of cycling and martial arts, and brings more than 10 years of leadership and organizational development expertise. He was an early advocate of DEI initiatives, having been VP of Diversity and Inclusion for Sovereign Bank in 2009. In that role he authored the bank's first-ever diversity playbook. Lipscomb recently conducted the first in an ongoing series of Cycling Inclusion Conference talks, conceived by USA Cycling and supported by cycling industry partners SRAM, Strava, Allied Cycle Works, Trek, Canyon, Vittoria, Hyperice, People for Bikes, Goodr, ZWIFT, Hinshaw Design Group, and The Inclusion Playbook.

Today Lipscomb is CEO and Head Coach of New York-based CIS Training Systems, a cycling performance organization that focuses on coaching in the widest possible sense to drive personal, professional, and organizational performance and success. The goal of Lipscomb's coaching methodology is to create training behaviors that go beyond the bike by breaking down mental and communication barriers, thereby surpassing individual and by extension organizational limitations.

According to USA Cycling's CEO, Rob DeMartini, "David has both a deep understanding of our sport and extensive leadership development skills. The fact that he's an outsider with this knowledge gives him the kind of objectivity and independence we need as an organization to drive staff and leadership performance and commitment to DEI initiatives. He's also frank and cuts to the chase, and that's exactly what we need."

Although officially an independent contractor, Lipscomb will serve as a member of the leadership team reporting to the CEO. He will remain in his role at USA Cycling for at least 12 months.
