Why SWOPE Matters

Seaside, CA. —  Coefficient Cycling visited the San Diego Wind Tunnel on February 26th, 2021 to gather scientific evidence that their unique handlebar designs improve rider + bike aerodynamics.
Cycling aerodynamicist Aaron Ross developed the protocols, managed wind tunnel testing, tabulated the results and wrote the conclusion. This comprehensive analysis looks closely at how the Coefficient RR handlebar improves a cyclist's aerodynamic position. Two handlebars were evaluated: the Zipp SL70 Aero and Coefficient RR. Professional cyclists Chloe Woodruff and Evan Pardi participated as test riders. Component-only test results are shared as well.

The complete aerodynamic analysis, including how the Coefficient RR compares to the Zipp SL70 Aero, can be viewed as a PDF here

Coefficient Cycling handlebars optimize real-world performance by thoughtfully blending three essential features – rider comfort, metabolic efficiency, and aerodynamics. A subsequent paper, scheduled for release later this year, will focus on metabolic efficiency to complete the RR handlebar ergo-aero benefits analysis.
