BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Pocket Outdoor Media, the leading endurance sports media platform, today announced that Dhani Jones, founder of BowTie Cause and Chairman of Qey Capital, has been elected to its board of directors. In this role Jones will offer strategic guidance and advise the company on its growth initiatives.

Jones began his career as an NFL linebacker, playing with the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cincinnati Bengals over 11 years before becoming a TV host, philanthropist and entrepreneur. But before ever touching a football, Jones' sporting career started at age five as a competitive swimmer followed by interest in both cycling and triathlon.

"Dhani's years of experience as an athlete, entrepreneur, media personality, and all-around adventurer uniquely position him to help us on our mission to inspire people to do the activities they love with greater enjoyment and knowledge," said Robin Thurston, CEO of Pocket Outdoor Media. "He brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and creative experience to our board as we look to bring our new acquisitions together and reach a broader and more diverse audience."

"Health and wellness have been core pillars of my personal and professional success, so I am thrilled to be joining the board of Pocket Outdoor Media, a business focused on being active and getting outside," said Dhani Jones. "I am incredibly motivated to be an active board member in every sense of the word and to help advance representation in the outdoor industry for people of color. Robin Thurston has already taken a positive first step by signing the Outdoor Industry CEO Diversity Pledge and I look forward to building upon that."

Jones will join Robin Thurston, John Spinale, Rafael Ortiz, and John Lee on the board of Pocket Outdoor Media, along with board advisors Chris Yu and Melanie Strong.

As a former TV host of Dhani Tackles the Globe and Adventure Capitalists, Jones has been heralded for his entrepreneurship and philanthropy following his NFL career. Jones has a passion for life, marked by the spirit of perseverance and fearlessness he brings to all of his current and former ventures which include his non-profit, creative agencies and private equity firm.
