Burley Welcomes Two Key Hires

Outdoor Industry professionals Katie Thompson and Kim Marek join the Burley team

EUGENE, OR (Dec. 5, 2019) – Burley is excited to announce the addition of Katie Thompson as Product Development and Manufacturing Manager and Kim Marek as Marketing Manager to their team.

Katie brings a tremendous amount of talent and experience to Burley's Product Development team. She will be responsible for driving Burley's Product Strategy, Product Development, and Manufacturing. Her extensive experience in user research, design, and product development; paired with her passion for Sustainability and Enabling Adventure will be influential in driving Burley's product performance forward.

Katie most recently served as Industrial Design Manger at Quality Bicycle Products (QBP), where she led Design, Research, and Softgood's Development across their portfolio of 12 brands, including the likes of Salsa, Surly, and All City. Prior to that, she held Industrial Design positions with Salsa Cycles, Imation, and 3M.

"Burley has a 40-year history of developing product that has not only stood the test of time, but also driven the bicycle trailer market," Thompson said. "I am thrilled to work with such a passionate company and experienced product development team. I look forward to continuing Burley's legacy in developing products and experiences that push the bounds of human powered transportation and enable adventure in all generations to come."

Kim brings an endless amount of energy and strategic marketing insights to Burley's marketing team. She is responsible for driving Burley's marketing strategy and implementing tactics to strengthen brand identity and build brand awareness. Her positive attitude and personality are assets that will work to innovate, expand, and grow Burley's brand in the marketplace.

Prior to coming to Burley, Kim held a Vendor Sales Manager position at QBP where she worked to drive sales and increase brand awareness across a portfolio of 14 external partners through their Dealer's Choice Strategy. With an education in marketing and a well-rounded background in communication, marketing, and sales, Burley's marketing team is excited for her creative vision for the future of Burley's brand.
