Boulder, CO: The new PeopleForBikes Research and Statistics subcommittee met in Boulder on Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss the current state of the industry’s market intelligence and develop strategies to provide more and better data. The goal of the subcommittee is to establish the foundation for a healthy and growing bicycling industry through robust, actionable market intelligence.
The subcommittee, created in the merger between the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association and PeopleForBikes, includes 19 volunteer members representing bike businesses of all types, sizes, and channels:

Areas of focus in the meeting led by PeopleForBikes Director of Research Jennifer Boldry included:
- Expanding the NPD retailer panel of 700+ storefronts that reports the sell-through data to provide better and more granular sales data
- Improving the monthly reports to PeopleForBikes members with more actionable insights
- Refining the statistics presentation at the Bicycle Leadership Conference to make it more relevant and useful
“The guidance of this group of smart, committed, and capable leaders will provide our industry with better data and research” said Boldry. “This is one example of how the merger and more horsepower behind our crucial programs can lead to faster progress.”
The other three post-merger subcommittees (Legal, Legislative and Safety; E-Bikes; and Marketing, Events, Membership and Education) continue to meet by conference call as well as in-person to forward the agendas in these critical areas of industry progress.
